Microsoft Windows Mother's Day Giveaway

Welcome to my My Favorite Things blog anniversary gifting extravaganza!

If you missed my post late last week, I’m celebrating two years of KludgyMom with scads of wonderful prizes – all centered around some of my favorite things – and today’s the very first day!

It’s only fitting that I kick off the party with the thing that makes KludgyMom….kludgy. Tech. {If you’ve never read my about me page, “kludgy” is techiespeak for “half-assed.”}

I love tech. One of my most trafficked posts of all time is how to manage your Instagram feed with Followgram.  Most recently, I’ve been working with the folks at Microsoft Windows as a Windows Champion, and I’ve been bringing you some cool tips on how to use Windows in really fun and time-saving ways.  Here are a few of the time-saving tips I’ve shared in the past:

How To Use Windows 7 Snipping Tool

Organizing Photos and Recipes Using Windows 7 and OneNote

How To Use PowerPoint To Create Pinterest Friendly Images

As it happened, my blogaversary dovetailed with a big effort Windows is kicking off right now for Mother’s Day. There’ll be Mother’s Day workshops in the Microsoft retail stores located in DC, Atlanta and Minneapolis.

So I get to offer you THREE fabulous tech giveaways from Windows valued at $580.

<drum roll>

$150 gift card to The Microsoft Store.

You can use this toward a new laptop. Or an XBox. Or maybe a new copy of Windows 7 or Office. It’s up to you!

Microsoft Store

A Windows HTC Radar Phone.

This is an amazing phone for moms. It’s loaded with really cool features. The Me Tile lets you send updates to Facebook or Twitter without the need for separate apps. The People Hub lets you stay in touch with your most important friends and family. A fully customizable start screen with Live Tiles lets you make your screen work just for you. Cool apps are pre-loaded, like Skype, Thumba Photo Editor, and Hand-Crafted (for whiling away hours of soccer practice by browsing Etsy). Linked email inboxes and Group features let you communicate with people via email and text in a snap.

A Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500!

This mouse features BlueTrack technology, which means you can use this mouse on nearly any surface (other than glass or mirrors). Like carpet. And park benches. Seriously! Admit it, there are times you sit on the floor with your laptop or at the park while your kids are on the playground. This mouse will be your on-the-go companion!

This giveaway is limited to U.S. residents (sorry, friends!). The giveaway will end at midnight on May 13 at 12:01 a.m.

I’ll be using Rafflecopter for all of my giveaways this week.  One entry will qualify you for all three giveaways! Your mandatory entry is to leave me a comment (in the Rafflecopter widget) and tell me how you’d like to thank your mom for Mother’s Day…or how you’d like to be thanked! Other optional entries are listed, too, so you can have more chances to win!

Enjoy and have FUN. I’ll be back tomorrow with another round of giveaways. And check out some fab DIY Mother’s Day gift ideas from Windows below! I’ve used MovieMaker myself NUMEROUS times to give fab DIY gifts to my family and friends!

I’m also planning some cool things for the fall, and I’d love you to sign up for my new email newsletter here (signing up qualifies as a giveaway entry!):

Good luck!

Mother’s Day DIY Gift Ideas from Windows

#1 Create your own card or image with Photo Gallery

A lot of people don’t realize that your Windows PCs come equipped with a handful of free tools to help you create something special for mom this Mother’s Day. One of the tools, called Photo Gallery allows you to make light edits to your photos and turn those photo memories into great-looking images to share with mom on the Internet, CDs, DVDs, your TV, Windows Phone or portable video device, using most popular camera types and file formats in the market today. With features like Photo Fuse and ReTouch, you can create a nice gift in minutes!

#2 Make a Card using Microsoft Paint

Why spend $5 on a mother’s day card at the store when you can create a personalized card for mom in minutes—for FREE! Moms love hand-made cards. With Microsoft Paint, you can create a card in minutes! Microsoft Paint is a simple-to-use graphics program that is included on your Windows PCs. Use it to create digital paintings, cards and more for mom!

#3 Create Mother’s Day Movies in Minutes!

Movie Maker is a simple way to compile and create special memories that will make mom melt. Since most of us are not Steven Spielberg, when it comes to making movies we’re looking for something fun and easy to use. Windows Live has a great solution for that. With Windows Live Movie Maker you can easily turn photos and video memories with mom into great-looking movies to share with her on her special day. Using most popular camera types and file formats in the market today.

 Disclosure: I’m a Microsoft Windows Champion. I was provided use of a laptop for one year for my participation in this program, along with periodic other free products and access to information. Thank you to Microsoft Windows for donating the prizes for this giveaway! All opinions here are my own.

And now I am leaving a comment telling you that I adore all things MS Office. I recently had to switch to a Mac and practically needed to seek professional help to make the switch away from a PC.

Things just make sense in that world.

And now I guess I need to enter Rafflecopter? Love me through the entry process. I have no idea what I am doing.

Yes, I’m closing comments on this post because the comments need to be left within Rafflecopter to be counted. It’s my first time using it, and now realize by leaving comments open, it caused some confusion. Good luck, friend! :)

Great idea! Happy blog anniversary! I could actually really use that phone, as I think I may be the only remaining person (definitely the only remaining blogger) without a smart phone! ;)
