Friday Flip-Offs, 8/6 Edition

by Gigi Ross on August 5, 2010

Welcome to Friday Flip-Offs! Get rid of your weekday angst! Meet some fab bloggers!

Go leave a comment on this post to win some free ConAgra food products. I’m doing 5 of these giveaways and your chances are GOOD. Seriously good. I beg for your help!

Now, a few new rules for FFO.

1. If you feel like flipping someone off but don’t want to join the hop, feel free to just leave a comment with what’s got you riled up this week. No worries!

2. If you link up to this bloghop and haven’t posted anything remotely related to Friday Flip-Offs, I will delete your link. Last week i deleted 3 to 4. I’ll not have mine, or my friends’ time, wasted.Read about what one of them did below.

3. Please make an effort to get around and visit the other bloggers on the hop. Sometimes I go to sites and they’ve only received one or two comments. Give  them some love and try to welcome new our new players. Thanks!

Okay. Without further ado…let the flips begin!

To a certain blogger, FLIP OFF. While I am in awe of your giant cajones for coming to Friday Flip-Offs, linking up only to try to hijack these fine participants for your own bloghop, it’s rude and tacky. If you have to resort to being shady and not even at least giving me credit for sending awesome chicks to your site, you don’t have a place here.

To being 40something: FLIP OFF. I’m sad at how the last few years have ravaged my body. And the wrinkles?  Let’s just say that if we ever lose our home, my kids can take shelter in my wrinkles.

To the Texas highway system: FLIP OFF. I have no idea what ostrich-brained redneck thought up the idea of how to build highways and their accompanying frontage roads here, but after 4 years, they still baffle me sometimes. And apparently they baffle my GPS, too, considering I got lost trying to go a mere 1.5 miles to an Olive Garden in Dallas using navigation.

All better now.  But before I go, I want to say a big thank you to all of you terrific ladies who join me on this meme every week. I love our little group that we’ve built and love seeing a couple of new faces every week. There’s something so reassuring in being able to have a complaint about a topic and have other people say, “yes, you are SO right! That sucks!”  Love you gals!

I noticed those few non-flipping off bloggers last week too – seriously if your going to bother to link up why not just take the extra five minutes to actually participate?

Sara @ Tedious Life August 5, 2010 at 9:50 pm

I’ve never been to Texas but I have been to the St. Louis area for a vacation and their highway system is pretty crazy. If the Texas highway system is anything like St. Louis, you have my greatest sympathy.

I hate the people who link up without participating. They made my ‘Flip-Off” list again this week.

Thanks for starting this meme.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:19 pm

So glad someone else besides me noticed the bad bloggers…Amy did, too. I think I scared them off. If not, these comments surely will!

Yuliya August 5, 2010 at 10:09 pm

Mean bloggers, boo!
I’m not linking (yet) but my flip off is- Netflix for sending me Disc 2 out of a series first instead of Disc 1…grrrrr

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:16 pm

Oh…booo to netflix!!!

Sara @ Tedious Life August 5, 2010 at 10:40 pm

Also, that ‘certain blogger’ is the definition of a major jerk.

Natalie August 5, 2010 at 10:45 pm

I’ll flip off the crappy blogger in support of you…now, who is it 😉

I’m 36, and let me just say those wrinkles come on fast and out of nowhere!

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:09 pm

they DO sneak up on a person. One day you’re youthful and the next? it’s like, “WHAT is that in the mirror?”

Kerry August 5, 2010 at 10:48 pm

now you got me all kinds of curious…

You know I would like to flip off Moen and the damn kitchen faucet that decided to fall off as I was turning the thing on.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:09 pm

Glad ya joined in this week kerry! As I said to Liz…I honestly don’t even remember the name of the blogger, or blog that tried to snatch participants….not someone I had seen before in my bloggy travels.

Booyah's Momma August 5, 2010 at 11:15 pm

Okay… my middle finger has been itching to join this little party for quite some time, and I finally got up the nerve. Thanks for hosting!

Sherri August 5, 2010 at 11:17 pm

Total agreement on the age/wrinkle thing of course!! Aches and pains and varicose veins….

I can’t believe someone would hack in on your cool Flips and try to make it about them! Double-flip! One of these days, I will get my act together and link up with some flips, because it must be very therapeutic.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:08 pm

You’re welcome anytime…or just to flip off in a comment…:)

Donna August 5, 2010 at 11:18 pm

Can I please hurt the “certain blogger”. Please, please, with a big fat cherry on top? I live for friday flip offs. I so glad to be in the group.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:08 pm

Yes, Donna, you may be the official ENFORCER of Friday Flipoffs :)

Uyen August 5, 2010 at 11:50 pm

Oh Gigi…being 40 sucks!! I found that out this year. Everything aches, you don’t hear or see as well, you all of a sudden have full blown alzheimer and all those little lines on your face have gotten deeper. Don’t laugh but I actually talked my husband into giving me some botox…just for maintenance! wink-wink!! love ya!

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:07 pm

oh yeah. Early Alzheimer’s. See, I forget to include that one in my flipoffs. It’s true. I am a mess.

Pumpkin and Piglet August 6, 2010 at 12:50 am

Well that’s just not fair at all! How rude of them!

I’m not Flipping Off this week but I’ll be back next Friday. I love this and the little group that’s here, I look forward to it all week 😀

blackhuff August 6, 2010 at 2:02 am

It also frustrate me when people link up to something that they know won’t be able to participate on a daily/weekly basis – sorry, that’s why I haven’t linked to the Friday Flip-offs because I know I will forget to participate. No pun intended – I’m a very forgetful person :(

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:05 pm

But I still like y’all just even stopping by and commenting. In fact, if you can’t remember to flip, no worries, just comment and join the fun that way. Totally cool by me.

Miel Abeille August 6, 2010 at 2:54 am

The 30s aren’t so great, either!

Hope your flip-offs relieve the tension & control wrinkle formation. :)

Maureen August 6, 2010 at 3:33 am

I’m not flipping things off this week but I’ll have a long recap next week 😉
I saw some of the links that doesn’t have flips on them and it made me feel lost like ‘how did i get here?’ lol
Hey I’m 30 something and I’m already flipping my skins 😀
Oh and I’m really sorry that I couldn’t keep up with last week’s flip offs thanks to my stupid internet and now I’m still solo mommy-ing hahaha.
Have a great weekend, girl!

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:04 pm

you get a hall pass girl. You’re a loyal participant and you’ve had a few things going on :)

melissa August 6, 2010 at 5:21 am

People are f’ing weird. I had someone comment the other day – hey i follow you follow me. umm – I may not have that many followers but at least say something about what I write…and no, I’m not going to follow you back. Have a great weekend!!

Pop August 6, 2010 at 6:34 am

Oh Gigi, your wrinkles and early-onset Alzheimer’s makes you that much more endearing. :-)

And I won’t be joining the Flips this week – not enough angst built up. Yet.

Holly August 6, 2010 at 7:58 am

Not sure If I told you yesterday or not but I gave you an award over on my blog! I love my Friday Flip Offs! :)

Danielle August 6, 2010 at 8:16 am

I have to agree! The 30’s aren’t great either. Especailly after the 3rd pregnancy! UGH!!

Rachel August 6, 2010 at 9:00 am

Wow how cheeky are some people…. you have to laugh at them really…its called desperation ……

MommaKiss August 6, 2010 at 9:15 am

I didn’t flip this week, but obviously had a few things to say ;p
Wrinkles – I have some on my face, but know what I hate? Those chest wrinkles. you know, like when you wake up from side-sleeping. Deep and ugly and when the heck did that start?

Lori August 6, 2010 at 9:16 am

Oh GPS, we could do an entire friday dedicated to that useful tool. Doing an out of town delivery mine kindly told me that I had “reached my destination”… the middle of a corn field? Really? Who lives here? Dorthy from the wizard of Oz shacked up with the scarecrow???

And as for the fake linkers ~ Us true Flip Off gals have your back. I know that this is a big job and again I thank you for putting this on every week for all of us. I can’t wait to start reading all of them, I look forward to the laughs every friday evening! Thanks for all of you and your rants, I love it.

joann Mannix August 6, 2010 at 9:22 am

Geeg,

I’m sorry I’ve never linked. I’m just not organized enough to ever have my crap together to do anyone’s link up. I should do yours, though, since I am a very angry person and it would be an easy post.

Sooo, email me cause I neeeed the scoop. Not only am I an angry person, I am a gossipy person. I’ve got some fine traits, I tell you what!

And thanks, the coffee came out the nose at the wrinkle line.

My flip off this week is easy since it just happened about 2 seconds ago. To the high school “friend” who sent me an email this morning. I guess I was too stupid in high school to realize how passive aggressive you really are, but I sure noticed it at the reunion and tried my best to steer clear of you. I hope your mean little note made you feel better. But honey, I don’t care if you thought my blog post this morning was a “little embarrassing and for your own good, you might want to take it down.” I am proud of the fact that I make an ass out of myself on a constant basis on the world wide web. Oh, and I’d suggest knocking off the Little Debbie’s or whatever it is that caused you to be 50 lbs overweight at our reunion. You know, for you own good and all. Faux Friend, Flip Off, Beyatch!

That’s all I got. I feel better now. Hope you’re having fun, baby. Jot me a line when you get a chance.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 10:00 pm

WTH? There was nothing wrong with your post!

She’s jealous because you obviously have fantastic taste in men and she does not. She’s just seething over it. don’t you dare let her ruin your day. Flip off chica!

still reading, BTW.

Average Girl August 6, 2010 at 10:11 am

One of these weeks I’ll try to participate. Love Friday Flip-offs! Don’t love the wrinkles, though — I feel your pain. In my mind, my skin is smooth silk, so perhaps mirrors should be forever boycotted?

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:58 pm

I’d be good with never facing a mirror again.

Still don’t get your posts, after subscribing via email now. so you’ll just have to keep visiting me as a reminder for me to come back :)

Mungee's Ma August 6, 2010 at 10:25 am

I visited Houston once and was baffled by those spaghetti interchanges! Good thing I wasn’t driving :) I might have to link up to this next week. Although Mungee’s party is next weekend and I am nowhere near ready, so maybe I should prepare for that instead. Eh, who am I kidding? I’ll be online.

ericka @ alabaster cow August 6, 2010 at 10:28 am

I hate when people link up for their own selfish purposes – really boils my bunny! And I love participating in this meme! I’m hoping to stop by the blogs when nap time stops by – hopefully that happens sooner than later!

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:52 pm

I’m very glad to have you :)

Poppy August 6, 2010 at 10:31 am

Joining you in flipping off the wrinkles. For me, it was bangs or botox. For now, I chose bangs. Next year, it may be botox.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:51 pm

I look weird in bangs!!! I have had juvederm shot up into my nasal lines and that stuff works like a dream. Only problem is it wears off. And now I don’t have money to redo it. Sucks to be me!

The Ninja August 6, 2010 at 11:45 am

I am still on vacation in the lovely Galveston…FLip off to Galveston because frankly it SUCKS, but I wanted to say that I loved the way you handled the blogger who came over to rip you off. Seriously!! What is wrong with people today! GEEEEESSSSHHHH

Kendra August 6, 2010 at 11:47 am

Hi Gigi! I’ve missed Flip Offs the past few weeks, but I’m back with my middle finger extended high into the air. Hope you are doing GREAT!!!

Alexandra August 6, 2010 at 11:54 am

Love the friday flip offs and how much people look forward to them.
You really hit it good with this meme, geeg.

Tonya August 6, 2010 at 12:27 pm

Crappy bloggers suck. I’m virtually flipping that person off for you now too.

Wrinkles suck more. :(

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:48 pm

yes, i’d gladly take the mean bloggers if I could get rid of the wrinkles!!

Elle August 6, 2010 at 12:45 pm

LOL. I used to do a blog hop on another website and there was ton of spammers. I’m sorry Gigi :(

I got lost last week using my GPS. I was on my way to a counseling appt and I was late because my GPS has AIDS. UGH. Thanks for the laugh.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:47 pm

I have a love -hate relationship with that GPS, i tell ya. I find myself having running conversations with her. So do the kids, now.

Shell August 6, 2010 at 1:11 pm

It’s like people don’t pay attention to what they are linking to. I had someone link to Pour Your Heart Out- and it was the directions for how to make a headband. Another linked a giveaway. And another thought it was a follow hop. READ, people.

Delete, delete, delete.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:47 pm

Yep…I am NOT wasting time with that noise anymore. I like giving people the benefit of the doubt and all, but some are just obviously not confused!

KLZ August 6, 2010 at 1:22 pm

I think rednecks should plan everything. No one would ever be to blame for anything since they could always blame some redneck.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:46 pm

I think you could make a very nice post about that. It even win a Blog of nonsense award. Just sayin’.

Aging Mommy August 6, 2010 at 5:49 pm

Maybe your GPS doesn’t like Olive Garden :-) Despite being a pasta lover my daughter for some reason really dislikes Olive Garden so we never go there any more and I actually really do like it, especially when they do those special pasta dishes with sausage.

As for the wrinkles, I don’t like them either but I like even less the puffiness and dark circles under my eyes that now hover thanks to old age.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:40 pm

The GPS got lost coming home from Olive Garden too!!! We are Jonny Carino’s fans so it was our first time at Olive Garden in many years…

I am with you on the puffiness. I just got a free sample of this new Loreal product that is an eye cream for puffiness/circles as well as a micromassager to reduce fine lines. I’ve been using it for 3 days and I have to say, I’m noticing a marked improvement!

liz August 6, 2010 at 6:43 pm

You’re teasing us?!!? Who is it?

That is SO not cool!

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Oddly, I don’t even remember the name of the blogger, or the blog! it was not someone I had seem before around anyone’s blog.

I was so taken aback that someone would have the balls to do that…I almost emailed her privately, and then figured it would be pointless since her intent was obvious. I just deleted the link!

Joey @ Big Teeth & Clouds August 6, 2010 at 7:30 pm

You can flip off the PA road builders while you’re at it. I think they’re the rednecks that couldn’t get jobs in Texas.

gigi927 August 6, 2010 at 9:38 pm

really? I can’t imagine anywhere being as confusing as here!!!!

Aging Mommy August 6, 2010 at 9:47 pm

I love Olive Garden, great value for money, just wish my daughter felt that way. I will have to check out the new Loreal cream!

Kristi {at} Live and Love...Out Loud August 6, 2010 at 9:53 pm

You’ve gotta be kidding me! These people sure have their nerve, don’t they? I’ve had that same problem on my “OH NO HE DIDN’T!” Tuesday meme. :( I’d like to flip those inconsiderate, rude, poopy-head bloggers off for you! lol And as for me? Well, I’d like to flip off my rude, condescending, inconsiderate, money-hungry landlords off for treating us like crap and taking advantage of our kindness. I can’t wait to leave this place!
Thanks so much for stopping by Gigi. Your comment really made my day. :)

McKenzie August 6, 2010 at 9:58 pm

I would love to link up with this. Friday flip-off was an amazing idea!

Lori @ In Pursuit of Martha Points August 6, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Oooh…what’s got me this week?

Hadn’t thought about it much…been to busy.

Oh, I know! Calories that just TURN INTO FAT. Damnit. I THINK TONS. THAT should burn calories. I’m sorry i can’t run EVERY DAMNED DAY, but that’s no reason for a big mac to just turn into flab on my thighs. I NEED those calories for mental energy!

And we won’t even discuss the french fries.

Or chocolate shake.

McKenzie August 6, 2010 at 10:22 pm

This is a great idea!

GB Girl August 6, 2010 at 11:23 pm

What a selfish thing for the blogger to do! The nerve!
Love your flip offs as usual. :)
I feel like I’ve been away from the FFO’s for so long. Just been in a funk lately and haven’t been participating in much of anything.
I’m back though, if you’ll have me. Off to post my FFO’s right now.

Jessica August 7, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Someone tried to sabotage your linky? Ugh. I’ve seen that done elsewhere and I do apologize that I was oblivious to the happenings here, but ugh. No. Class.

Sandra August 7, 2010 at 10:14 pm

I love this idea of flipping off! I’ll joining up next week!

Tayarra August 12, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Aw! And I missed this one last week! But, I hope you know I love you back! Thanks for posting rules because when I click on links and there is nothing there it pisses me off! Plus I could have used that time to get to another blog that actually participated! Anyway! Thanks, girl for hosting!!! I’ll be there tomorrow!
