Let’s face it, we live in an instant-gratification culture. Whatever we want, we want it now.

That goes from everything to the TV we watch to the food we eat.

And let’s not forget coffee or whatever hot morning beverage you drink.

So Tassimo asked me to review their T20 Brewbot beverage machine, which lets you get your favorite beverage on demand – and yes, that includes Starbucks or Gevalia! I’ve never tried a beverage machine like this so I was really interested to see how it would work.

You can make coffee, espresso, latte, even tea and hot chocolate drinks in this powerhouse machine – each one taking about two minutes or less.

I know because I timed it myself.

And, you can make 2 different flavored drinks, one after another, without any flavors from the first transferring from the second.

I know because I tested that out too!

It’s pretty cool. You buy the discs for whatever kind of beverage you want to make. You fill the water tank and pop a disc into the Brewbot. The disc has a bar code reader that tells the machine what to make and how to make it, and voila! Drinks on demand.

We only drink about one hot beverage each in the morning, so a full pot of coffee is wasteful for us – this Brewbot is perfect!

It was really easy to set up and use, too. It has a really streamlined design that fits well on my counter. I like minimal clutter in my kitchen and the Brewbot takes up very little room.

So far I’ve made Starbucks Lattes and Gevalia coffee in my Brewbot and ordered some discs for hot chocolate and tea as well!

I only had one concern about the Tassimo Brewbot – and that’s with the environmental impact of using plastic discs filled with beverage mix that a) can’t be reused as far as I know and b) end up creating a lot of waste. Tassimo’s website says the following:

The used T DISC is suitable for energy recovery through incineration. In locations where plastic collection systems exist, you can cut away the label, rinse the remaining coffee grounds, tea leaves or milk from the chamber and deposit the chamber and label with general plastics (non PET).

Well we don’t drink coffee here but we are huge hot chocolate drinkers during our few weeks of cold weather in Miami.

I have a friend with a Tassimo, but not the Brewbot. I like the Tassimo beverages and it looks like the Brewbot is a smaller version that could fit easily in my rather small kitchen with limited counter space. And I like that you can use creamer disks with the machine as opposed to adding cream or milk. I don’t keep a lot of milk or cream in my house, I only use it in my coffee. And I don’t like stirring in the powdered stuff, but I found the Tassimo creamer disk to make the beverage quite yummy. My only issue is the disposable disk. I wonder if they are recyclable, at least.

kludgymom December 11, 2010 at 11:01 am: Yes, Jeanine, this is definitely on the small side. I’d say it’s about 9 to 10 inches wide and the same depth. Would be great for a small apartment. The creamer disk was good with the latte that I tried. Here’s what I just found on the recycling – off Tassimo’s website: The used T DISC is suitable for energy recovery through incineration. i love coffee and flavored teas. I drink nearly an entire pot of coffee in the mornings during the cold weather. Since I have been enrolled in school I have been using caffeine as my pick me up during the days and evenings when I have to stay up late studying. However, I like to change up often, even in one evening switching different flavors to keep myself energized. This would be a perfect addition to my kitchen seeing that I don’t have to brew an entire pot at a time.

I would love to win this. I don’t make a pot of coffee very often because of the mess, but I drink coffee everyday. This would be great for me. I love the starbucks coffee. I’ve never tried the Gevalia brand. Can you get a reuseable filter for this machine?

I love my Tassimo machine. My favorite Latte (and I am a huge Starbucks fan) is Maxwell house Latte. It is about $4.00 cheaper than the Starbucks Tassimo Latte at HEB and it’s really smooth. Also, the Earl Grey Tea is amazing and it takes only 1 min. to make. I would love a new Brewbot!!!!

Hey Gigi – not being a big coffee drinker, I’d enjoy a nice hot chocolate out of my Brewbot. Considering its going to be 10 degrees tomorrow with 40 mph winds, a hot chocolate would be just the thing to take me away from the reality. (love the blog)

These kinds of drink makers are great. We got a Keurig a couple of years ago and love it. What I like best about these machines is the ability to make flavored coffee by the cup. Everyone can have what they want.
