Font Frenzy Friday

by Gigi Ross on March 8, 2013

I’m Gigi, and I’m a font addict.

I’ve had this addiction for probably 15 years now. Ever since I got my mealy hands on my first copy of PowerPoint, I’ve had this obsessive lean to finding the absolute perfect font for every purpose.

So I’m starting a new series – it won’t run every week – maybe every couple of weeks or when I find new fonts I love. It’s called Font Frenzy Friday, and I’m here to share with you a new font collection full of fancy fonts, cool fonts, fonts that I think look really good as watermarks, as captions on Pinterest images and blog post photos, and wherever else in your life you need fonts.

If you’re just starting to try and make some of your blog photos more pinnable, this series will help. Because the stock fonts in the Office Suite are great, but they’re so commonly used that they tend not to stand out on Pinterest or blogs. Also? I use PowerPoint to make my images Pinterest friendly – no need for a fancy web tool or extra software program. You can read my tutorial on using PowerPoint to make Pinterest images.

My only requirements for Font Frenzy Friday are:

* the font must be free. Because I’m cheap, yo.

* the font must be from a site that doesn’t install malware on your computer. There are a lot of them out there.

* the font needs to look really cool. I’ll be the judge of that.

So here’s my first one! Entitled 10 Fabulous and Free Fonts, I bet there will be something you like here.

The font names and links to download  appear below the image.

Eyes Wide Open, Veggieburger, and Wish I Were Taller are really making me crave them. I hate that I’m unable to change the fonts on my site (I’ll figure it out and do it eventually), so I’m glad to have new fonts to look out for when I do.

I LOVE fonts. I have a terrible addiction, too. The last one I brought into Photoshop I paid for so I am excited about you sharing free ones. Off to explore these you shared–and most likely download!!

I will join you at the font addicts meeting…. I love them too. I’ve been known to just sit and browse fonts forever and download them because I might use them someday!

Oh… free is good. I don’t like to pay if I don’t have to.

Have you tried making your own fonts? I never know how people do that, or how much time actually goes into it. I just download fonts. And download. And download some more lol! I love COUTURE and CAC Champagne!

I am in love. I thought this sort of thing was way beyond my technical expertise. Happily, that turned out to be wrong wrong wrong. True, my technical expertise has increased a tiny amount in recent weeks, but it turns out it doesn’t seem to take that much prowess to master some of these things. Thank you for the links, the tutorial on downloading the fonts and especially the tutorial on creating pinnable images from powerpoint!
